BACtrack Mobile--Big in Japan

BACtrack Mobile Makes it Big in Japan

Last week, we announced that BACtrack Mobile had successfully bridged the Atlantic to the UK.

This week, the world's first smartphone breathalyzer has headed due West--across the snowy breakers of the Pacific to the land where sushi was born. Wired Japan featured BACtrack Mobile recently and we couldn't be more excited!

Here's a rough English translation:

Smartphone Alcohol Measuring Instrument

There are various small breath alcohol measuring instruments on the market, but the BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer of BACtrack, Inc. in San Francisco ($150) seems a little bit different.

Rather than just send the data via Bluetooth to your iPhone to measure your BAC (blood alcohol concentration), BACtrack Mobile calculates the time for your BAC to reach zero, charts results from the past two weeks or six hours, and analyzes the pattern of alcohol decomposition. It also creates a drinking log and allows you to add photos, tag drinks, and attach locations to your results. You can also send results to a friend or post through social media.

This product feels similar to Fitbit or the NIKE + Fuelband for tipplers...
