2018 Super Bowl Beer Commercials

2018 Super Bowl Beer Commercials

The 2018 Super Bowl LII fast approaches! On Sunday, February 4th, we’ll all make our way to whomever’s house has the largest TV, bring our offerings of chicken wings and nachos, and sit down to root for the Philadelphia Eagles or the New England Patriots.

Even if you’re not in to watching the football, there’s always the commercials. Or the beer. Or the beer commercials.

Speaking of beer commercials, here’s something interesting: according to AdAge, Anheuser-Busch InBev holds the exclusive beer advertising rights for the Super Bowl. This year they plan to feature four of their brands, and with the cost of entry soaring, we expect them to bring the heat. Dan Lovinger, NBC Sports Group executive VP of ad sales, expects their Feb. 4 revenue to be $500 million, which would be a record for revenue generated by a single company in one day.

We decided we didn’t want to wait until the big game, so we did a little pre-game research and rounded up these 2018 Super Bowl beer commercials so you can get a delightful sneak-peak of what’s to come.

Budweiser

After a 17-year streak, Budweiser says they will not feature their famous Clydesdale horses in a Super Bowl ad this year. They are instead focusing on their philanthropic water program where they stop beer production to produce cans of fresh water for areas in need. They already released the ad on YouTube where it has garnered nearly 7 million views. While this is a nice commercial, we’re hoping that Budweiser will surprise us all with a feel-good Clydesdale commercial as well.

Bud Light

Ah, the “Dilly! Dilly!” saga continues. This time a new valiant character emerges, The Bud Knight. Bud Light has already released their 1-minute commercial that starts where their last commercial “Ye Olde Pep Talk” left off. It’s pretty entertaining, and we’re sure it’s going to spark a lot of Bud Knight Halloween costumes this year.

Michelob Ultra

Michelob Ultra is going for fit and funny this year featuring a sometimes shirtless Chris Pratt super prepping for his role to be the next Mich Ultra spokesperson. There will actually be two spots running around the same topic, the second one being a more musical number with a surprisingly catchy “I Like Beer” song. Here’s both of the full-length commercials.

Stella Artois

Stella is also focusing on water, and teamed up with Water.org and Matt Damon to promote a water relief effort for developing countries. Matt says that if just 1% of the people watching the commercial buy one of their limited edition chalices, they can give clean water to 1 million people for five years. It’s pretty hard to see in the commercial, but the way to purchase a Stella chalice is by going to this website.

So whatever your reasons are for watching Super Bowl LII, whether it be the football, the commercials or the abundant amounts of appetizers, have fun, be safe, and make sure to get to your friends house early so you can claim a good seat. And while you're at it, pick up a BACtrack to make sure everyone makes the right decision before heading home.
