BACtrack Smartphone Breathalyzers: Perfect Holiday Gifts

Holiday gift guides are out everywhere, and BACtrack Smartphone Breathalyzers have made it onto quite a few of them. Here are our favorites thus far.

Reverse Wine Snob's list of gifts for wine lovers has a bunch of well thought-out products featured, including both our smartphone-connected products. "On the subject of high-tech gifts, here's one of the most important we can recommend," he says, "and it's probably something you've never even considered -- a portable breathalyzer. We like the BACtrack Mobile Smartphone Breathalyzer, which connects to your smartphone... but if you're looking for more of a stocking stuffer check out the stand alone keychain version..."

Examiner ran a "Tech the Halls" holiday gift list, which included the BACtrack Mobile Smartphone Breathalyzer. "Had one too many egg nogs? Check your alcohol level before you hit the road with the BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer ($99) a smartphone breathalyzer that uses police-grade sensors to track your BAC level so you know, for sure, the impact alcohol consumption has on your body and brain. Make sure you are unimpaired and safe to drive so that the only flashing lights you see this holiday season are on the Christmas tree."

Heavy.com compiled a list of gifts for husbands, and BACtrack Mobile made it in. "With holiday parties right around the corner, many people will be looking for a way to track their drinking and make responsible choices. This portable breathalyzer estimates when your BAC will return to 0.00%, which can help you to plan your evening and get home safely."

TUAW recommends the BACtrack Vio's slender size and affordable price, which makes it the ideal stocking stuffer this season. It's "the smallest and simplest way to turn nearly any smartphone into a high-performance alcohol screening device."

EveryJoe also recommends the BACtrack Vio: "a small device that has one goal: To keep you (or a friend) from making stupid decisions by measuring your blood-alcohol levels. It syncs the results directly to a free app, then estimates when your BAC will return to 0.000. Plus, it’s a good conversation piece, no?"

Lastly, BGR gives BACtrack Vio high marks as a stocking stuffer that keeps loved ones safe this season and all 2015. "It’s always best to have a designated driver or some alternate method of getting home if you plan to drink," they write. "The problem is, sometimes social convention requires us to imbibe – even if only a little bit – at social functions even when we have planned not to drink.  In those cases, the BACtrack Vio is not just handy to have, it can also be a life saver."
